This Australian Startup Wants to Map the Oceans
An Australia-based startup named UAM Tec wants to map the entire ocean floor by using autonomous submarines equipped with advanced technologies including motility tracking and AI.
The company unveiled its autonomous submarine at CEBIT 2019 challenge it to be the "first fully autonomous and visual-based mapping submarine to be in the world". This submarine has the capability to travel 100km at a depth of 200m, capturing 360-degree visuals with 22 cameras in the concurrently.
"We want to be able to educate the next generation about everything that exists in our world. The fact that we know more about space than we do most our own oceans is unacceptable with today'southward technology," the visitor told Business organisation Insider Australia.
Moreover, the company wants to be the Google Maps Street View of the sea with its "WaterView" applied science. With this ambitious project, the visitor also aims to aid amend search and rescue operations in the sea."Not just will we be able to detect new species of marine life and track climatic change, simply in time we will too be able to optimise search and rescue operations, locate wreckages and black boxes, and much more than."
Until now, the company has developed iv autonomous submarines. A new model is already in the works with better capabilities and the capacity to go deeper. More sensors volition be equipped in upcoming models of the submarine as well.
